How does ion formed?

         When an atom donates or accepts electron, it will

         become a charged particle ion. 

         Metal atom donates electron and becomes positively-

         charged ion (Na+) while  non-metal atom accepts 

         electron and become negatively-charged ion (Cl-). 

         The electrostatic forces arises between cation and 

         anion. 

What is metal???
